Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk - An Amazing Journey

“A woman’s chance of having breast cancer during her lifetime is one in eight. Your chance of knowing this woman is almost 100%”

Frightening, isn’t it? Especially when you consider all the wonderful women in your life and ask the question…who will be diagnosed next? Will it be my mother? My grandmother? One of my sisters? One of my aunts or cousins? One of my co-workers? One of my friends? Or will it be me?

There are over one million women in America with undetected breast cancer. If I told you there was something you could do to help them find out and survive, how far would you be willing to go?

I asked myself this question and answered: 60 miles over three days and raise at least $3,000.00 from my friends and supporters in the process.

I have recently made a personal commitment to participate in the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. On the morning of May 31st, 2002 I will join 3000 other “walkers” (including my sister, Christina) in Ann Arbor, Michigan to begin the journey of a lifetime. We will walk 20 miles a day for three days until we arrive in Detroit on June 2nd. We will walk to honor the memory of loved ones we have lost and courageous survivors. We will walk to support awareness, early detection and treatment programs.

Please support us and help millions of beautiful women by donating. All the funds raised by the Avon Products Foundation, Inc. [a nonprofit 501 (c) (3)] work to provide access to quality breast care for medically underserved women and to advance breast cancer research in the United States.

Donating is easy and fully tax deductible. You can donate online using your checking account or charge card or mail your check made payable to Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day to my address located on the "Donate" page. The pledge form even has the option of spreading out donation payments over several months.

When considering how much to donate, please keep in mind how far we’ve committed to walk for this cause and how many hours we’ll be devoting to training and fundraising. I wouldn’t dream of asking you to do something that I wouldn’t do myself. I have started by fundraising with a personal pledge of $300. I am asking that you add your pledge to that as I work towards my goal.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Please check back in the coming weeks to see how my training is going. Make sure to check back after June 2nd to read all about the walk and see pictures.

Love,
Paula

P.S. Please pass on this website address to your friends or family members that may be interested in supporting the cause. The more donations received the more women we can help. Thanks again. XO - P
